Clay Sponge Bob

Adult / Child Clay Time

This is a great class for moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, Big Sisters and Big Brothers. It's a chance for you and a special child (or two) to enjoy time together while exploring the wonders of clay.

Our projects are designed to be fun for all ages and to encourage creativity and individuality. You can work on projects themed around upcoming holidays, the season, or something that interests you and the child.

Adult / Child Clay Time is offered on specified Saturdays each month. All pieces will be ready for pick-up two weeks after the last class.

The cost of Adult / Child Clay Time sessions depends on the number of weeks offered and the number of children and adults enrolled. The price includes:

  • The specified number of instructor-led, 2-hour classes.
  • All clay, tools, glazes and firings.

Check our Calendar for upcoming session offerings and prices. You can register online, in person or by mail. Please call 683-2529 to make sure a spot is available before registering and paying online. We highly recommend registering early since class size is limited to eight people.

It's also a good idea to bring an old towel and comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Working with clay can get messy. Clay comes out of fabric without much effort, but some glazes and other materials aren't so forgiving.

It may seem like a small detail, but we also recommend that you remove all rings and bracelets and clip your fingernails as short as possible to avoid multiple problems while working with wet clay. Fingernails are all too likely to poke, gouge, rip and scratch the clay.

Plan Your Own Adult / Child Clay Class

No need to wait for the next scheduled Adult / Child Clay Time. You can create your own adult / child class any time you like.

Whistle Stop Clay Works has hosted birthday parties, club meetings, play dates among friends, and mother-daughter, father-daughter and extended family nights out.

One of our instructors will help you choose the pottery project or theme ahead of time. We'll provide the studio, the clay, the glazes and the firings and make sure everything is set up for your arrival. You just need to provide the food, drinks, plates, cups, etc.

The price is $35 per person for a 2 ½-hour event (2 hours of clay time and 30 minutes for social activity). A $100 deposit is required at the time of the reservation. You must have a minimum of six people and no more than 12 to 16 people, depending on the chosen clay activity. If food is involved, an adult must be present to supervise the children while they are eating.

Call us at 513-683-CLAY (2529) to discuss your needs and ideas and reserve a time.
